The African Green Growth and Development Forum (AGDF) is an eco-development friendly organization comprising of distinguished multi-disciplinary stakeholders in the private, public and CSOs sectors. AGDF Members are motivated by the need to adopt rational, robust and pragmatic approaches toward building sustainable practices and policies for enhanced socio-economic development in Africa.

Established in 2018, AGDF is a legally registered Non-Profit, Professional Organization with CAC registration No.: CAC/IT/NO 135940 in Nigeria. The African Green Growth and Development Forum is committed to promoting harmonious sector-driven natural resource management that align to maintaining the technological styles for ecological integrity of nature with productive results for green livelihood.

The emergence of AGDF is as a result of the prevailing environmental challenges within the local, national and global public spaces which call for holistic rationalization of human actions along common grounds to unite the much-needed human well-being and survival through conserving pristine ecosystems and environmental assets, secure decent and dignified living conditions for societies that fully promote the tenets for building a circular economy. In AGDF, we strongly believe that viable economic ventures that promote ecological functions and stability through the reduction of environmental resources deterioration provide lasting enormous sustainable livelihood opportunities to a people.

The African Green Growth and Development (AGDF) operates by engaging and partnering with relevant institutions or bodies towards developing sustainable ventures that aim at eliminating poverty while increasing the impact of the green economy as a sustainability stay for the present and future generation.

Priority Areas & Working Groups

AGDF adopts a unique and pragmatic approach using priority areas to solving environmental problems through short/long-term improvement of the livelihood development options of local communities. The key priority sectors include: a) Governance and Policy Concerns b) Agriculture including aquaculture and livestock farming c) Forestry and Biodiversity d) Water resources management e) Tourism f) Renewable energy g) Waste management h) Manufacturing and i) Transport.

Successfully inaugurated a competent Board of Trustees

  • Supported the development of the Green Economy Framework for Cross River State.
  • Collaborated with the Cross-River State Planning Commission and Cuso International (Canadian Non-Profit Organization).
  • Fully registered with the Government of Nigeria.
  • A steadily growing membership base.

Research Green Economy in Africa

Conduct research in green economy and growth opportunities (micro and macro capital assets) in Africa.

Build Policy Capacity

Provide technical expertise to build the capacity of policymakers and critical stakeholders on green economy.

Promote Green Legislation

Promote green legislation that fosters the emergence of robust governance and institutional arrangements.

Support Green Financing & Tech

Leverage existing opportunities for green financing, technologies, and know-how to support the transition of communities and private sector players to green growth and investments.

Engage Leaders & Stakeholders

Engage periodically with public policy, business, and academic leaders.

Support Green Entrepreneurs

Encourage green entrepreneurs (small, medium, and informal businesses) in African communities.

Track Green Growth Progress

Provide periodic score sheets utilizing the best available indicators to assess and monitor country performance by sector on progress towards green growth and development.
